Bones of the Farm - Dry Stone Wall - 5th July - 10am - 4pm

Tax included.

Stone Walls provide a number of key structural solutions on farms. The practice and knowledge of how to build them has died out - due to other types of fencing emerging. Dry stone walling is an art form that is gaining interest. However, there is a lack of knowledge in how to properly build these structures. The Irish form of Dry Stone Wall is unique - and during this exchange, the participants will learn:
- The basic skills of dry stone walling
- Promoting an awareness of the craft of dry stone building in Ireland
- Hands on training oh how to maintain and repair your walls
- The benefits of walls on the farm
- Dry stonewall built on a radius freehand

Participants must be over 18. We cannot refund if cancellation within 1 week of the course.

Lead stonemasons with the Dry Stone Wall Association of Ireland, Ken Curran and Michael Fearnhead run courses promoting an awareness of the craft of dry stone building in Ireland. The DWSAI aim to promote dry stone construction in Ireland and to spread the word to a wider audience on the importance of dry stone structures to our heritage. Only stones local to an area are used on the walls, they are never imported. The stones dictate the design of the wall.
